Today, Governor Kristi Noem ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Monday, April 22nd, 2024, in honor of former state legislator and Public Utilities Commissioner James “Jim” Burg. He represented Jerauld County in the South Dakota State House of Representatives from 1975-1984 and in the South Dakota State Senate from 1985-1986.

Funeral services for former state legislator Jim Burg will take place at 10:30 am on April 22nd, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wessington Springs, SD.
