For Colorado Only
Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, from sunrise until sunset to honor Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Zackari Parrish as he is laid to rest.
Parrish, 29, died in the line of duty on Dec. 31, 2017, of injuries sustained while responding to an incident in Highlands Ranch. He has been with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for seven months. Before joining the Sheriff's Office, he worked for the Castle Rock Police Department.
Parrish is survived by his wife and two daughters.
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
