Half-Staff Alert for October 10th, 2017
For Maryland

This is to advise you that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag flown at half-staff on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017, from sunrise to sunset. This is in memory U.S. Navy Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Timothy T. Eckels, Jr., of Manchester, Maryland, who died on August 21, 2017, while serving aboard the USS John McCain.

This action is taken under the Protocol for the United States and Maryland State Flag. Any questions on the above should be directed to the Office of the Secretary of State.

**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.

FlagsExpress.com will provide you with an E-mail notification when your American or state flag should be flown at half-staff in accordance to Presidential proclamations.
