DENVER - Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 - Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Nov. 12, on all public buildings statewide in memory of Springfield paramedic Rick Hartley. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.
Hartley, 63, died on Friday, Nov. 6 as a result of an auto accident while transporting a patient in an ambulance.
Hartley founded the Springfield EMS Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the local ambulance service in fundraising and education. He also served on the State Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Services for the state of Colorado and was a member of the Southeastern Colorado Regional Emergency Trauma Advisory Council.
He is survived by his wife Pam, son Jered, and daughters Brook and TeNeil.
Public services for Hartley will be held Thursday, Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Springfield High School, 389 Tipton Street. Uniformed personnel and apparatus are welcome (vehicle line up is currently set for the west side of the track).
