For Maine Only
Governor Janet Mills directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff this Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the State Capitol and in the City of Westbrook in honor of former State Representative Ann Peoples. Visiting hours for Representative Peoples will be held Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Dolby, Blais & Segee Chapel in Westbrook. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m.
“Ann was a dear friend, a wonderful colleague, and a dedicated lawmaker. Her commitment to the people of Maine, and particularly to people of her beloved City of Westbrook, shined through the halls of the State House every day,” said Governor Janet Mills. “This Saturday, we honor Ann’s life, her service, and her many contributions to our state. On behalf of the people of Maine, I extend my condolences to Ann’s family, friends, and loved ones.”
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
