For Adams County, Pennsylvania Only
Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered the commonwealth flag on all commonwealth facilities in Adams County to immediately fly at half-staff in honor of Buchanan Valley Fire Department Assistant Chief Walter Wagaman, who died Wednesday.
Wagaman, 46, died from severe injuries suffered when he was ejected from a firetruck while responding to a crash scene on Aug. 2.
The governor ordered the flags we lowered until sunset on Friday and again on the day of Wagaman’s interment, which has not yet been announced. The United States flag is to remain at full-staff through this tribute.
The governor’s office said all Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute.
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
