For Alaska Only
Alaska Governor Michael J. Dunleavy and First Lady Rose Dunleavy issued the following statement on the passing of former Alaska Representative Bill Williams:
“Real leaders do not come along very often, so it is especially tough when we lose one with the ability and character of Bill Williams,” said Governor Dunleavy. “He worked both hard and smart for the constituents and communities he represented as a city council member, mayor and legislator in Southeast Alaska where his wisdom and presence will be missed. Rose and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Williams family for their loss.”
Governor Dunleavy has directed Alaska state flags and U.S. flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Bill Williams starting Tuesday, May 14 through Saturday, May 18, 2019.
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
