Half-Staff Alert - Tuesday, March 19, 2019
For West Virginia Only

Gov. Jim Justice today ordered all United States and West Virginia flags displayed at the Capitol complex in Charleston and all state facilities throughout Cabell County be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in commemoration of Robert R. “Bobby” Nelson.

Nelson served as a delegate in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1965 to 1970, and served as a senator in the West Virginia Senate from 1971 to 1985. From 1985 to 1993, Nelson served as mayor of Huntington.

**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
