Half-Staff Alert - November 17, 2018
For South Carolina Only

Governor Henry McMaster orders that the flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, November 17, 2018, the day of the memorial service to celebrate the life of Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Charles Straight of the Charlotte Road/Van Wyck Volunteer Fire Department in Lancaster County, who died in the line of duty. Governor McMaster requests that flags over buildings of the political subdivisions of this State similarly be flown at half-staff for this purpose.

**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
