For Tennessee Only
By order of the Governor, flags over the State Capitol are to be lowered to half-staff as a tribute and memorial to mark the recent passing of two of our state’s most distinguished public servants, former House Finance Committee Chairman Charles Sargent of Franklin and former Senate Republican Leader Ben Atchley of Knoxville. Sargent served twenty-two years in the House; Atchley served nearly three decades in the Senate subsequent to two terms in the House. Flags at the Capitol are to be lowered to half-staff, effective immediately, until sunset on Monday, November 19, 2018. Thank you.
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
