By order of the Governor, flags over the State Capitol and all state buildings are to fly at half-staff in honor and memory of United States Marine Corps Private First Class William F. Cavin of Hancock County. Flags are to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Private First Class Cavin lost his life while serving in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and is now being returned home to Tennessee after almost 75 years.



**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
