For Penobscot County, Maine Only
Governor Paul R. LePage has directed all State of Maine flags in the County of Penobscot be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, August 17 in memory of Penobscot County Commissioner Thomas J. Davis, Jr. He served as a county commissioner for 34 years, and passed away at home on August 12, 2018.
“Ann and I have known Tom for many years and our hearts go out to his family,” stated Governor LePage. “He was a dedicated public servant and a good friend. He will be greatly missed.”
Please note: State of Maine flags are to be lowered in Penobscot County only. If the Maine State and United States flags are flown on the same staff, it is appropriate to affix the Maine State flag with a black ribbon to denote mourning in lieu of lowering.
Commissioner Davis served his community and the State of Maine in a number of capacities. He was a selectman in the Town of Kenduskeag for 25 years. He also served on numerous boards including the Eastern Maine Development Foundation Board, the State Workforce and the Northeastern Workforce Development Board.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor.
