Gov. Dennis Daugaard has requested that all flags in the state be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. until sunset on Friday, May 4, to honor the life of state Rep. Sean McPherson, of Rapid City, on the day of his funeral.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. MDT at Real Life Church, located at 4024 Sheridan Lake Road in Rapid City. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Rapid City Christian High School.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Sean McPherson Fund. Donations can be mailed to PO Box 926, Rapid City, SD 57709.

**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
