Half-Staff Alert - Immediately until Sunset, April 30, 2018

Governor Henry McMaster orders that the flags on all state buildings be flown at half-staff from sunup to sundown on Monday, April 30, 2018, in tribute to Deputy James L. Kirk, Jr. of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, who died in the line of duty. Governor McMaster requests that flags over buildings of the political subdivisions of this State similarly be flown at half-staff for this purpose.

**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
