For Nebraska Only
U.S. and Nebraska flags in this state will fly at half-staff Thursday in honor of Nebraska Supreme Court Justice John F. Wright, who died Sunday at age 72.
Flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Gov. Pete Ricketts' office said in a news release.
Wright had served on the state's highest court since 1994, and was on the Court of Appeals for three years before that. He was in private practice in Scottsbluff for 21 years before being named to the newly formed appellate court.
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
