Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charles D. Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, March 17, 2018, the day of interment, in honor of Specialist Michael J. Grella, Joint Force Base Langley - Ft. Eustis, VA; of Gloucester, Massachusetts who died on Friday, March 9, 2018.
These gubernatorial orders apply to:
1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls.
2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings.
3. All state military installations.
**When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U.S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
