http://www.MyVotePerforms.com - For the Nov. 4, 2008 presidential election, MY VOTE PERFORMS (MVP) will produce performance art at polling places in Milwaukee. MVP is nonpartisan and approved by the State Elections and the Milwaukee Election Commission.
The performance art pieces will be about citizenship and voting. At most sites artists are creating five-ten minute pieces that will be presented ever 20-30 minutes between the highest-volume polling hours of 4-8 PM. Projects will include dance, recorded sound, original music, puppetry, video, interactive sculpture, and storytelling. The projects are being carefully created so they will not get in the way of people voting.
These are the goals of MVP:
--To celebrate voting as an act of citizenship.
--To provide a value-added experience for people voting.
--To encourage more people to vote.
--To make voters more aware of the sites where they vote.
--To expose a broad range of people to performance art.
