For Alaska Only
December 7, 2016 ANCHORAGE – Governor Bill Walker today ordered all state flags to be immediately lowered in honor of Mike Kelly, who served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. He died Wednesday during a plane crash.
“We lost a great Alaskan, wholly committed to his family and his community,” Governor Walker said. “Mike Kelly served faithfully for six years as a legislator, but his commitment to a better Alaska exceeded his time in public office. In my many meetings with Mike about making energy more affordable in Alaska, his commitment to Fairbanks and his family always shone through. Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of strong faith, and Donna and I pray that faith will sustain his wife, Cherie, and the entire Kelly family.”
All state flags should be flown at half-staff immediately, and returned to full-staff at sunset on Wednesday, December 14.
