DENVER — Friday, March 11, 2016 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on Monday, March 14, on all public buildings statewide in memory of Park County sheriff Corporal Nate Carrigan. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset. Flags were ordered to be lowered on March 7 in honor of Nancy Reagan and can be raised to full staff tonight at sunset.
Carrigan, 35, was killed serving a high-risk eviction notice at a home in Bailey on February 24, 2016.
Carrigan served with the Park County Sheriff’s Office for 12 years. He is survived by his fiance, stepchildren and several family members. Carrigan’s family has a long history in law enforcement including service by his grandfather and two brothers. Known as “Coach Carrigan” in the community, he dedicated much of his time coaching football, baseball and wrestling.
Services for Carrigan will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Bible Chapel, 6210 Ward Road, Arvada. ###
