WHEREAS, onJuly 5,1951, Sergeant Einar H. Ingman, Jr., of the 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, United States Army, was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Truman for his heroism during the I<.orean War; and
WHEREAS, the official Medal of Honor citation for Sergeant Einar H. Ingman, Jr., recounts his courageous actions during an engagement on February 26, 1951, in which he spearheaded a daring assault on enemy forces at great risk to himself, and his "indomitable courage, extraordinary heroism, and superb leadership reflect the highest credit on himself and are in keeping with the esteemed traditions of the infantry and the U.S. Army;" and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Einar H. Ingman, Jr., passed away on September 9, 2015, at the age of eighty-five; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Einar H. Ingman, Jr., was the only survivor of the five Wisconsin service members who received the Medal of Honor for military service in I<.orea, and it is appropriate for all Wisconsinites to honor his memory and the memory of all who served; and
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Sergeant Einar H. Ingman, Jr., will be laid to rest with full military honors after a funeral service in Tomahawk, Wisconsin;
NOW THEREFORE, I, SCOTT WALKER, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by federal and state law, do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the State of Wisconsin equipped with such flags beginning at sunrise on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, and ending at sunset on that date.
