Wisconsin's flags are to be flown at half-staff to honor a Grantsburg victim of the Chattanooga, Tennessee terrorist killings.
Governor Scott Walker ordered the flags lowered in honor of Marine Sergeant Carson A. Holmquist. Holmquist was gunned down along with three other Marines at the Navy's operational support center Thursday.
Holmquist was a 2008 graduate of Grantsburg High School, in northwestern Wisconsin. The school has placed his photograph on their Wall of Honor. Holmquist began active duty in the Marine Corps the following year. He also served a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The Governor said, “Tonette and I send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of all of those affected by this senseless act of violence,” Governor Walker said. “We honor the memory of Sergeant Carson Holmquist, and we will never forget the courage and sacrifice he displayed serving this great country.”
