Governor Pat McCrory ordered all North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, June 11, 2015. This order is in memorial of former Lumbee Tribal Chairman Jimmy Goins.
“Ann and I were saddened to learn of the passing of former Lumbee Tribal Chairman Jimmy Goins. After serving two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Army, Mr. Goins returned home to the Prospect Community where he became a respected and charismatic leader of the Lumbee people. As Tribal Chairman from 2004-2010, he devoted his tenure to better serving the youth and veterans of the community. He will always be remembered for his service and dedication to the Lumbee people, the state and the entire nation,” said Governor Pat McCrory.
