Santa Fe, NM - Today, Governor Susana Martinez issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 8, 2015, in honor and mourning of New Mexico Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Ryan Faraone.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 2015-006
FLAGS FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF IN HONOR AND MOURNING OF NEW MEXICO ARMY NATIONAL GUARD STAFF SERGEANT RYAN FARAONE
WHEREAS, On Thursday, April 30, 2015, New Mexico Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Ryan Faraone died in the line of duty;
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Faraone was representing the New Mexico Army National Guard in the 44th Winston P. Wilson Marksmanship Competition at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in North Little Rock, Arkansas;
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Faraone's passing underscores the danger that our National Guard soldiers face, and the impact it has on their loved ones;
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Faraone served with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 200th Infantry;
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Faraone's selfless and dedicated service was exemplary of the thousands of men and women who wear the uniform of the New Mexico National Guard;
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Faraone is survived by his wife and two children; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of New Mexico, do hereby order that all flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday May 8, 2015, the day Staff Sergeant Faraone is laid to rest. The thoughts and prayers of the people of New Mexico go out to Staff Sergeant Faraone's loved ones in gratitude for his service and in mourning for their loss.
