Gov. Susana Martinez ordered that flags statewide be flown at half-staff Thursday in honor of Albuquerque Police Department officer John Kelly, who died before a training exercise in Albuquerque last week.
A private family viewing will be held Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. and a public visitation will be held directly afterward, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Strong-Thorne Mortuary, located at 1100 Coal Ave. SE.
Kelly's public memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Albuquerque Convention Center, and he will be buried Thursday at 3 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
Officer Kelly leaves behind a wife, three children and three step-children. An autopsy that will determine the cause of his death is still pending.
